Celebrating Martinmas Novemeber 11

Do you know that we have never celebrated Martinmas before? It’s a great holiday, started with Saint Martin, showing his light to the world on a cold dark night.

There are many ways to celebrate the day. Some have a bonfire, roast marshmellows, drink cider and have a lantern parade. Kids make their own lanterns and parade around the neighborhood or fire singing various Martinmas tunes.

It’s a time to welcome winter, to recognize the light that each child has in their life and how they can be one for others like St. Martin.
